Send a file with a link that expires

Email attachments bounce on size, and shared-drive links live forever whether you remember them or not. ShareNimbus takes the opposite approach: you upload a file, get a private link, and that link stops working on a schedule you set. Pick a 1-hour, 1-day, or 7-day window, optionally add a password, and the file is deleted from storage the moment it expires - or the instant it is downloaded, if you choose a one-time link.

How to use it

  1. Choose a file - drag it onto the box above or click to browse. Anything up to 25 MB works.
  2. Set an expiry and, if you like, a password and a maximum number of downloads.
  3. Press Create link. The file uploads to zero-egress Cloudflare R2 storage and you get a shareable URL.
  4. Copy the link and send it. Share the password separately - over chat or a phone call - so the two never travel together.

Why expiring links are safer

A permanent link is a permanent liability. The longer a file sits behind a URL, the more places that URL gets pasted, forwarded, and logged - and the more chances it has to leak. An expiring link shrinks that exposure window to the minimum you actually need. Combine a short expiry with a one-time download and a password, and even a forwarded link is useless once the intended recipient has grabbed the file. When the clock runs out, our nightly cleanup removes the object from storage entirely, so there is nothing left to find.

Files and secrets, side by side

Not everything you share is a file. For a password, an API key, or a short private note, use theOne-Time Secret tool instead - it encrypts the text at rest and self-destructs after a single view. Between the two, you can hand off almost anything without leaving a permanent copy behind.

Frequently asked questions

Is secure file sharing really free?

Yes. Upload a file up to 25 MB and get a private, expiring link with no signup. Optional password protection, one-time download, and a download limit are all included. A free account lets you manage and revoke your links later.

How long does a shared file last?

You choose: 1 hour, 1 day, or 7 days. When the timer runs out - or the download limit is hit - the file is deleted from storage automatically. One-time links delete the file the instant it is downloaded.

How is the file protected?

The link contains a random, unguessable token, so only someone with the link can reach it. Add an optional password for a second factor. Files live in zero-egress Cloudflare R2 storage and are purged on expiry.

Can I send confidential documents this way?

For most day-to-day sharing, yes - use a password and a one-time or short expiry. As with any sharing tool, avoid sending regulated data unless your organization has approved it, and share the password over a separate channel.
